i made the eyes a little less green, and tried to sharpen them up a bit. does it look professional? I want to eventually use it as the top right hand status image on my music myspace.

It's okay I guess.

But if i was absolutely honest, I don't like it.

Some suggestions

a) I think you should increase the contrast of the image.

b) I can tell, you did some filters. Try to reduce the use of it.

c) Don't paint on the eyeliner. Take a more subtle effect on it.

Define your understanding of "professional". It looks decent, perhaps good enough for myspace, maybe not so much on the cover of vogue. The trend nowadays is to master every technique of photoshop [or whatever] in order to make a perfectly good photograph look like crap, IMO. Sometimes too much editing, or the wrong sort of editing can be overkill. At this point, I'm not seeing why a cropped image of your eyes, unedited, isn't good enough for what you want to do. Perhaps you don't care for the color of your eyes, maybe this look is what you were going for in the first place, whatever. If you think what you've done is good, by all means post it, own it, love it, hate it, but show people that you are creative and not that you want people to think you are.

If you're happy with it, by all means use it, it is suitable for myspace. You will never make it sharp if it is blurry to start with. Have you heard that you can't make a silk purse from a sow's ear? Photoshop will never make a poorly executed shot look professional, no matter how much you monkey with it. I think it is fine for myspace.
